Recommended Itineraries6. Bomun Tourist Complex Tour with Family2025.10.20

Gyeongju’s representative resort, Bomun Tourist Complex, is a perfect family travel destination where playing, dining, walking, and resting are all possible. Here’s the custom route I carefully planned to make the most of what Bomun has to offer. Shall we take a look?

This family-friendly route covers about 10 km and is perfect for a relaxed half- or full-day itinerary. It offers a balanced mix of rides, local food, scenic walks, and restful moments. It’s a rejuvenating course where the whole family spends enjoyable time together, pleasant for both children and adults.

We began our day at “Gyeongju World,” a theme park known for its thrilling rides. Opened in 1985, this long-standing park is filled with exciting attractions and hands-on activities, perfect for spending the entire day with kids. The Draken, vertically dropping from 33 m height, was a heart-pounding experience. I also felt the rush on the Time Rider—a coaster wheel ride soaring to 51 m—one of the tallest of its kind in the world.

While Gyeongju is well-known for its Korean beef, I couldn’t leave without trying its pork ribs, too. Bomun Galbi serves up handcrafted charcoal-grilled pork ribs and Hamheung-style cold buckwheat noodles—a fantastic pairing created by a head chef trained at one of the world’s top three culinary schools. It’s an ideal choice for both family dinners and special occasions. As it’s a restaurant introduced on TV, you can dine here with confidence.

After the meal, I walked along the Bomunho Lake Trail. Bomunho Lake is an artificial lake created within the Gyeongju Bomun Tourist Complex. I spent peaceful time with family leisurely passing over the lake on a duck boat. The Bomunho Lake Trail, a loop trail around the lake, takes about two hours to complete and offers wide-open views of the water as you walk. It’s said to be especially beautiful in spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.

Did you know there’s a four-season theme tourist facility created with a motif from the “Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond” story? I went to Gyeongju East Palace Garden where you can fully enjoy seeing and experiencing plants and animals directly, from Donggung Botanical Garden and Bird Park to Donggung Experience Center and musical fountain. At Bird Park, you can create unforgettable memories with children while directly interacting with birds.

We wrapped up our day at “Page 9,” a café offering sweeping views of Bomunho Lake. This spacious venue doubles as a restaurant and café, with a full Western menu and a fresh in-house bakery. Relax with dessert on the wide lawn, at one of the photo spots, or in a cozy indoor seat—each space invites you to savor the moment. It’s the perfect place to create special memories with loved ones—whether you’re with family, a partner, or the kids.
