Recommended Itineraries5. Dramatic Gyeongju, Filming Location Tour2025.10.18
Gyeongju is a city where the traces of time linger in every corner—and it’s no wonder it often shows up in TV dramas! So today, I walked to the following filming locations I encountered through media.

This dramatic-style route spans about 17 km and is perfect for a full-day trip filled with scenic filming spots, alleyway strolls, food stops, and café experiences. Though you can travel by car, walking with a camera or taking photos slowly allows you to experience an immersive trip as if you’ve entered directly into a scene onscreen.

Today’s trip starts at “Daldongnae of Olden Times.” This recreated neighborhood captures the daily life of Korea in the 1970s and 1980s, complete with vintage radios, old repair shops, corner stores, and a classroom from a local elementary school—it feels like stepping back in time. From making dalgona candy to trying on retro school uniforms, there are plenty of hands-on experiences that spark nostalgia for all ages.

A short six-minute drive brought me to Gyeongju Expo Park. This cultural park is filled with massive structures, exhibitions, and media art inspired by Silla heritage. It’s also a well-known filming location for TV dramas and music videos. Whether you’re visiting with friends, a partner, or family, it’s a fun place to explore and experience culture together.

Next is “Ryoko,” the oldest pork cutlet restaurant on Hwangnidan-gil. I recharged energy while enjoying delicious lunch in a romantic and cozy atmosphere. As it’s a restaurant that was broadcast on TV, you can dine comfortably if you make a reservation in advance.

Hwangnidan-gil is Gyeongju’s trendiest street, lined with stylish cafés, curated accessory shops, and unique restaurants—it’s a joy to explore on foot. With many good photo points, it’s perfect for recording your trip. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of Gyeongju’s must-visit destinations.

Cheomseongdae is the oldest astronomical observatory in the East and Gyeongju’s symbolic landmark. A relic built during the reign of Silla’s Queen Seondeok, it features flowers and trees that bloom, allowing you to enjoy both outings and photography. I could see many foreign tourists enjoying themselves wearing hanbok made in Silla period costumes!

The final stop was “Sodamru,” a traditional hanok dessert café. I paused to rest while gazing at a ginkgo tree more than 600 years old, enjoying a Sodam Parfait and corn cream latte. With the charming view inside the old fortress and the serene atmosphere of the hanok, the sweet treats offered a soft and satisfying end to the day.
